Originally from the Chicagoland area; been in the DFW area for 10 years.

What brought you to the DFW area? What part of town do you currently live in?

Married a Texan in Alaska and he got me here as quick as he could ;-)  We live in Wide Awake Wylie (I have an accent now too!)

When you are not cycling, how do you earn your living?

I’m a Marketing Manager for an electronics mfg company.

What is the best thing about your job?

The people I get to work with each day!  For the 5th straight year in a row, AMX has been voted one of the Best Places to Work In America and it’s true!

How long have you been a member of the PBA?

Just joined the club, May 2011

How did you get interested in cycling, group cycling, cycling with the PBA?

A coworker took me to my 1st spin class 6+ years ago; last year I tried my 1st triathlon that included riding outside for the first time; now I’m hooked and this year I challenged myself to ride the MS150 for my brother—it was the most AMAZING experience yet!

Are you a member of any other bike clubs?

In my mind, there are no other clubs besides the PBA—I’ve already recommended it to all my friends & family.  The positive experience I’ve encountered gets retold time and time again (did I mention I’m in Marketing???)

How many rides and how many miles per year do you cycle?

No clue.  I try to cycle (in or out) about 3-4 times a week.

Tell us two or three interesting things most people don't know about you.

I sing sitcom or cartoon jingles to myself ;-)  I’d prefer to wear pajamas all day???

Describe your first bike. Do you participate in any other sports? Have you, or do you do any bicycle racing?

Yes, I participate in other sports and really enjoy trying new things.  Last year I ran my 1st half marathon.  It was a fantastic experience and the Dallas Running Club is the team to join to train!!!

What is your favorite ride ever or best ever riding experience?

2011 MS150

What is your most embarrassing cycling moment?

Nothing comes to mind but I’m sure there will be something in the future.

If you could go on one more bike ride, what ride would it be?

Don’t know enough about various rides yet.

What is your favorite book, movie, or play?

Books: Anything Mitch Albom; Movie: Hitch (‘cause I can do the Q-tip dance move); Play: Annie Get Your Gun

Van Halen, Aerosmith, 80s rock.  Fave food: PIZZA

Interest-Husband & Family; Yes we have 1 family member, a little German (dachshund) named Mandy - - she’s 17 ½ yrs old and such an angel baby.

Where were you born or from and how long have you been in the DFW area?
I was born in El Salvador. However, I grew up in Costa Rica, where I lived for 20 years. I have lived in the U.S. for about two years, and I’ve always been in DFW.

What brought you to the DFW area? What part of town do you currently live in?
Love! I moved to the U.S. because my husband is from TX. I currently live in Plano.

When you are not cycling, how do you earn your living?
I’m a public relations specialist and work for a Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations firm.

What is the best thing about your job?
I love developing communications efforts and seeing how they yield real results in people’s opinions, perceptions, etc. This is a very dynamic and versatile profession, so you don’t get bored as you’re always doing different things.

How long have you been a member of the PBA?
Since June, 2011

How did you get interested in cycling, group cycling, cycling with the PBA?
I moved to Plano from Lewisville a year ago. Once here, I wanted to exercise outdoors with my husband; therefore, we bought brand new bikes. After riding every single bike path in Plano many times, I though it was about time to get on the street! I looked up for cycling groups online and decided to join PBA.

Are you a member of any other bike clubs?
Not as of now.

How many rides and how many miles per year do you cycle?
I just started cycling in Spring of 2011.

Tell us two or three interesting things most people don't know about you.
I was a radio news host in college and I love dancing salsa.

Describe your first bike. Do you participate in any other sports?
Wow. I would not be able to describe my first bike, but I know I loved it. I don’t do other sports, but I go to the gym and a fitness studio.

What is your favorite ride ever or best ever riding experience?
To be done!

What is your most embarrassing cycling moment?
To be done too… Hopefully it won’t come, but that’s too much to ask

If you could go on one more bike ride, what ride would it be?
In the north of the country! Sometime in the fall, somewhere with a lot of beautiful trees

What is your favorite book, movie, or play?
I love the Harry Potter books and have many favorite movies, but I love “Cantinflas” movies, he was the most iconic Mexican comedian

Michael Jackson, Queen, 80’s, 90’s, salsa, merengue, pop… Love food from Latin America

What other hobbies or interests are you involved in when not riding your bike? Do you have any pets? If so, describe.
I go to the gym, cook, stay in close touch with my family in CR, go shopping, spend time with friends and make plans

What else would you like to tell us about yourself?
In Costa Rica, people don’t have bike paths or nice, wide roads like we do here. I’m really excited to take my bike journey to the next level with PBA.

Where were you born or from and how long have you been in the DFW area?
Born in Houston. Have lived in Plano since 1996.

What brought you to the DFW area? What part of town do you currently live in?
Moved to Plano from San Antonio in 1996 to establish the headquarters of the US subsidiary of a German-based manufacturing company called Hebel.

When you are not cycling, how do you earn your living?
I have served as the founder and president of the Center for Christ & Culture for the last ten years. In essence, I am a theologian, author, and speaker that works to challenge the spiritual apathy and cultural indifference of the church through serious research, writing, teaching and speaking. What is the best thing about your job?
It is very satisfying to help people think clearly and experience the full freedom and joy of authentic Christian faith.

How long have you been a member of the PBA?
I first joined PBA in 2006 but took up mountain biking in 2010. I returned to the road in July 2011 and rejoined PBA.

How did you get interested in cycling, group cycling, cycling with the PBA?
Was getting older and finding it harder to stay in shape so tried cycling and loved it immediately.

How many rides and how many miles per year do you cycle?
At my peak in 2007, I was probably averaging around 175-200 miles each week. I am planning to get back to that level by the end of 2011.

Tell us two or three interesting things most people don't know about you.
I write and publish poetry.

Describe your first bike. Do you participate in any other sports?
My first bike was a Schwinn Varsity, which I rode in the Hotter-N-Hell. I still like to ride the trails.

What is your favorite ride ever or best ever riding experience?
That would have to be the MS150 in 2007 from Austin to Houston. There were six of us who joined with the Michelob Ultra Team and flew to the finish both days.

What is your most embarrassing cycling moment? Why I don’t know what you’re talking about!

If you could go on one more bike ride, what ride would it be?  A (flat) stage at the Tour de France.

What is your favorite book, movie, or play?  I read an average of 3-4 books each week (non-fiction) so that would be hard to say. I loved Gone With the Wind.

If you have, or had, an iPod, what music would be in it? What is your favorite food or cuisine?
Country music of course: I’m a Texan! Mexican food, again, I’m a Texan!

Do you have any kids? What are their ages and do they ride bikes?
I have three kids, a son who is 20 serving in the Marine Corps and two daughters, 17 and 13. My son used to ride before he joined the world’s largest “gun club.”

What else would you like to tell us about yourself?
I am married to a great woman who lets me indulge my riding addiction!
